As we were sat at our desks this afternoon, I mentioned that I would be escorting three lovely ladies to Dublin for some meetings on Wednesday next week. One of my younger colleagues, looked at me:
"What, like you're the pimp and they're the whores?"
There was a stunned silence followed by giggles all round. My colleague looked confused, so I thought that perhaps I should help her out. "You need to think about what you've just said"
"Why?"
"Well, think what you're calling your boss and your boss's boss"
She frowned. "There's nothing wrong with what I said"
"Really? You just called them whores!"
"Well, you said you were escorting them"
"Yes, but that's not quite the same thing as calling them Escorts, is it?"
"Yeah, but they'd be those really high class whores....."
Honestly. Some people just don't know when to stop digging. Everyone has their price, she tells me.
These guys really are the gift that keeps on giving.
I understand where you're coming from.
ReplyDeleteI overheard this one from a rather attractive girl who normally works near me at work:
"This guy has just said "My Christian name is..." What's a Christian name?"
Help! I am now officially old, and now know I'm part of a different generation.
For just over a year now I've been working in a large group most of who are 15 - 20 years younger than me and they're a very sound bunch indeed. The last guy into a meeting a bit back had a choice to sit next to either a couple of girls he was friendly with or one of the guys. He paused before moving towards the guy saying "Bros before…….girls", it made me smile. Like you though I've had the odd cultural bump - very early on I was discussing some scenarios with a colleague and he asked if I thought that they were real or concocted, I replied that I thought the one involving a certain Benjamin Kenobi was probably made up. Blank look. But then I suppose we don't know whatever it is we don't know either, do we?
