on an island in the sun...

Gone diving.

All my work is done and I'm now just counting down the hours until we get on a plan in the small hours of tomorrow morning.  Balmy temperatures, a bit of sun and some diving in the warm(-ish) waters of the Atlantic, washed by the warm Canary Current off Lanzarote.    Sounds hellish, eh?

As we're flying with Ryanair, I won't really consider myself on holiday until I've endured the ongoing commercial opportunity with a captive audience that they will no doubt view the four-and-a-half hour flight.... but I suppose that's a nice problem to have in the grand scheme of things, and when I escape them, I should be able to put my sunglasses on and get on with the serious business of finding a suitable bar to watch England v Scotland in the opening game of the Six Nations.

Work's been tough this last few months.  I really need a break and this has come along at just the right moment.  We don't usually go in search of some winter sun, but this year we both had so much holiday left that it seemed like a perfect opportunity... plus we'll get our skiing fix when we go to Canada at the end of March.   It's been too long since we went diving.  I've even bought a rattle so I can try and keep tabs on my sometimes errant dive buddy.

Anyway.  We're back next week.  See you on the other side.

Hip hip.

*Breathes out deeply and starts to relax*
